The Regular Meeting of the Lingle Town Council convened at , June 18, 2008 with Mayor Walter leading the pledge of allegiance.  Upon roll call, the following were present, constituting a quorum:

CM Gilchriest moved to accept the agenda with the addition of John Peterson under reports.  CM Unverzagt provided the second and the motion passed without dissent.

CM Welte moved to approve the minutes of the 4 June regular council meeting as published.  CM Gilchriest supplied a second and the measure passed unanimously.

Donna Wunder and Paul Joy presented the council with a Certificate of Appreciation to the town for their continued support of the
Senior Center .  They explained that the Center served an average of 14 meals a day for the past three months and takes in roughly $3.00 per meal and the cost of meals now runs $6.18 to serve.  The Center would not be able to keep its doors open and provide meals without the support of the town and other governmental agencies.

ATS Haeffelin reported their department collected and submitted a large batch of water samples for testing.  The lagoon project is still waiting on DEQ approval and a demonstration of a street sweeper is scheduled for July 1.

PC Elwood reported working late shifts to watch for unusual activity.  He also reported lots of traffic going through town and responded to questions about hours for fireworks.

CT Kendall presented the financial report for May and placed it on file.  He also informed the council that Weed & Pest would be doing mosquito spraying this year the same as the past several years with Monday and Thursday nights in the late evening.

John Peterson updated the council on WMPA items and invited the council to attend the annual meeting in Jackson on 15 August.

CM Unverzagt moved to approve ORDINANCE #302, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE-ENACTING ARTICLE 1 SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE #212 PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN RATES FOR EACH KWH OF ELECTRICITY USED, on third and final reading.  CM Welte voiced a second and the motion carried 5-0.

CM Welte moved to approve ORDINANCE #303, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE-ENACTING ARTICLE 3 SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE #212 PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN SEWER RATES, on third and final reading.  CM Unverzagt provided a second and the measure passed 5-0.

CM Gilchriest moved to approve ORDINANCE #304, AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION FOR THE TOWN OF LINGLE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1 JULY 2008 TO 30 JUNE 2009, on third and final reading.  CM Brown supplied a second and the motion passed by a vote of 5-0.

CM Gilchriest moved to adopt RESOLUTION #96, SUPPORTING RENEWAL OF THE OPTIONAL 1% TAX.  CM Welte input the second and the measure passed 5-0.

A hearing was held at 7:54 p.m. on the subject of liquor licenses and there were no comments or complaints presented either orally or in writing.

CM Gilchriest moved to renew the liquor licenses for the Blue Dog, Corner Bar and Lira’s Restaurant.  CM Unverzagt presented the second and the motion carried on a vote of 4-0 with CM Brown abstaining from the discussion and vote.

Mayor Walter announced the town facilities, including the pool, would be closed on July 4 and Fair Day.

Under town correspondence, the council by consensus agreed to provide a letter of support to DSI on a recycling grant application and to concur with the school district plan to repave the high school parking lot.
